I had the privilege of capturing Intervals during their Oslo show at Rockefeller, following the band through soundcheck, backstage, and the full performance.
Intervals have been one of my biggest influences, both as a musician and as a photographer. What has always drawn me to their music is the contrast between complexity and melody — technically intricate compositions with enormous, cinematic lines cutting straight through the noise.
That tension is something I try to bring into my own work: strong subjects that make sense out of complex scenes, and visual contrast that pulls your eye exactly where it needs to go.
This shoot pushed me outside of that comfort zone. When the show started, I noticed immediately that the stage was lit almost entirely in blue, no variation, no warm tones to work with. What initially felt like a limitation turned into a direction. By the time I got to the edit, I knew the answer was to lean into it: a two-tone gallery mixing deep blue with black and white, letting each image find its own mood.
Aaron gave me full creative freedom to cover the show however I saw fit. That trust meant everything, and I think it shows in the work.
